This is a free concert. Free hotdogs and drinks. Bring your lawnchairs and enjoy some great gospel music.

The last of three free Summer Music In the Park Concerts sponsored by the Verona Community Association was performed August 16 at McMullen Park and Beach. Bill Lansdell and his band Still Standing delighted the audience with a medley of 50's to 70's rock and roll hits. McMullen Beach was the perfect venue as cooling breezes kept the hot 30 degree weather very comfortable. Joyce Casement, a Verona Community Association director, was the person instrumental in planning and bringing together all the necessary components that made Music in the Park a reality. She was thrilled with the overwhelming positive response of the community to this project and their demands for more music concerts next summer. Joyce would also like to thank the South Frontenac Recreational Committee for their permission to use the park. She especially thanks committee member JoAnne Abrams who volunteered to work at each concert and opened and prepared the park and stage.

The Third Annual Garlic Festival is only a few weeks away. The Verona Lions Club is proud to sponsor this festival on Saturday September 5 from 9 am to 2 pm. The regular Frontenac Farmers Market vendors will be in attendance plus special garlic-related vendors. Come to learn about the 17 different garlics grown in this area from the farmers themselves. Purchase your fresh, Ontario garlic for the year. Learn about the uses of garlic in our food for its fabulous taste and health benefits. Try some great garlic beef and sausage meals prepared for you on site. Admission and parking is free. Interested vendors please contact John McDougall at 613-374-2516 or veronart@kingston.net

A Piccadilly Jam Session will be held at Bedford Hall from 1 to 5 pm, August 23.
