The Verona Festival Committee will be holding a special meeting on Tuesday March 30th, 7:00 PM at the Verona Lions Hall. Jan Bonhomme will be the guest and will be guiding the committee in branding and site location discussions. Jan is a trainer for Festivals & Events Ontario, in particular for small town festivals. She has 33 years of hands-on experience she is willing to share. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this important decision making meeting. New volunteers are always welcome to attend and share in the fun of planning for the 15th annual Verona Festival.

The Verona Community Association held their Annual General Meeting on March 16th. Marcel Quenneville, president of the VCA gave a heart-felt thank you to all the hundreds of volunteers who helped make 2009 a resounding success. The Verona Festival and Music in the Park are just a few of the sponsored VCA events, which successfully brought our community together last year. This year promises even more excitement with new venues along with the established ones. The "Adopt a Barrel" flower competition will soon be announced. Stay tuned.

A Pancake Breakfast hosted by the 1st Verona Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts will be held on Good Friday, April 2 at Trinity United Church from 08:00 to 11:00. All you can eat pancakes with sausage and juice, tea and coffee served by our youth members. The funds raised will assist in providing fun, challenging, and educational Scouting programs to our area youth.

Welcome back Jitterbugs! Hugh and Deborah Fisher will be reopening the store's doors for 2010 on Saturday March 27. Drop by to say hello and see what's new.

A free seminar "Transition to Harmonized Sales Tax - Information for Businesses" will be hosted by the Frontenac CFDC and the Canada Revenue Agency on Tuesday April 6. 9:30am to 12:30pm at the Verona Lions Hall, 4504 Sands Road . To register call 613-372-1414 or email dave@frontenaccfdc.com

Only a few days left to submit those time-honoured recipes and historical anecdotes into the "Find a Doc Cookbook". March 26 is the deadline. Don't miss this opportunity to have your family name in print and help record this area's history. Drop off your recipes and stories to Kim Perry's Local Family Farms Store on Main St.

Minor Softball Registration for the Verona and Hartington Area will be held on Saturday, March 27th. You can register the children at the Princess Anne Centre (Library) in Hartington from 12 pm to 2 pm.. On Saturday, April 3rd, registration will be held at Verona Lions Club, Sand Road from 12:00 pm to 2 pm. For more information please contact: Les Moore, 613-374-3129.

Play some hands of euchre on Thursday April 1. Lunch is at noon, euchre at 1 pm. Cash prizes and lunch all included for $2.00 Bellrock Community Centre. For more information call 613-374-5426
