Kylie wants to say "Thank You". Three year old, Kylie Babcock, and her family are inviting all her supporters during her battle with cancer to join them for some cake and dancing. Saturday, October 2, at 6pm, at the Verona Lions Club, Verona Sand Road.

Prince Charles Public School is hosting a Turkey Bingo on Wednesday October 6. The doors open at 6:30 pm with games starting at 7:00 pm. There will be a canteen and raffle prizes available to be won. All the proceeds are going towards the grade eight graduation.

The Verona Lions are also planning six bingos for this year. The first one, a Turkey Bingo, is scheduled for Monday, October 25 at the Verona Lion's Club. More details to follow.

Verona native, Lee Casement and his band Telefoto are holding their CD Release Event on Friday, October 1 at Sydenham Street United Church, Kingston. 7:30 pm. The Belle Tones will be special guests. Last chance! This year Trinity Pie-makers have 100 pies for sale. The price is $8.00 per pie and must be pre-paid. Pies can be picked up Oct.1 and Oct. 2 at Trinity United Church just in time for Thanksgiving dinner. Order a few of these delectable delights. They make great hostess gifts or presents. The Quilting Group will meet Wednesday, October 6 at Trinity United Church. 9 am to 12 noon. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome to join the group, whether a seasoned quilter or a beginner. They have lots of patterns and ideas and there are always people to help with advice. For more information call Ann McDougall at 613 374-2516.

Rural Vision's Center has a Diners Club program for adults, ages 55 plus, in Verona. This program provides full-course, catered meals with the flexibility to meet varying dietary needs. For a cost of $11 per person, you will enjoy a wonderful mid-day meal, entertainment and transportation (if required). This is a great opportunity to meet new and old friends, enjoy some local talent, and learn what's up in our community. Noon, Thursday, October 7th at Trinity United Church in Verona. Meet the candidates for our area, Portland, on Friday October 15, at the Verona Lions Hall, 7 pm. Be informed and make your vote count!

Are you ready for a ghoulishly great time? A Halloween Dance and Silent Auction will be held Saturday, October 23. The dance will help raise funds for the Christmas for Kids campaign. There will be lots of events, prizes, and auction items! A special service for the partygoers will be a free shuttle at the end of the evening for those that need a ride home. Pick up your tickets at Verona Hardware. $15 per person. The fun starts at 8 pm at the Verona Lions Club. Verona Sand Road.
