Batters up! Baseball season is almost upon us. Frontenac County Minor Softball Association announces 2011 Softball registration for the Verona/Hartington area. Sign up will be held at Princess Anne Centre (Library) Hartington on Saturday, March 26 from 12 pm to 2 pm. Second date for sign up will be Saturday, April 2 at the Verona Lions Club from 12 pm to 2 pm.
Are you missing your garden? Longing for those colourful blooms? What can we do to get over the March blues? Here is a solution. Louise Day is holding a photo show at the Kingston Frameworks Store at 198 Princess St, Kingston. The exhibit is titled " A Day in the Garden." I viewed a small selection of Louise's photos on their web site www.kingstonframeworks.ca and the photos are breathtaking. The exhibit will be on display until March 26th.
Whodunit? You will never know if you don't get your tickets to Verona's first ever Murder Mystery Theatre. Verona's very own thespian, Dick Miller, is one of the players in this mystery. Is poor Dick one of the victims? Be prepared for four hours of theatrical entertainment and intrigue. There will be clues and red herrings for the audience to assist the inspector to solve the crime. What fun! Saturday, March 26th, 6:00 PM. Lions President John McDougall and Lion Judy Conway recently presented a cheque for $5,000 to Prince Charles Public School's Principal Frank Girard and Educational Assistant Charles McGregor. The money, donated in memory of Lion Donna Clarke, will be used to purchase Canadian Curriculum books, audiovisual materials and general purpose books.
We were at the first meeting and have an idea of what the Verona Community Improvement Plan is about. Now the second meeting is scheduled and we can start planning. On Thursday, April 7th there will be an in-depth workshop from 6:30 to 8:00 PM that will flesh out some of the ideas we've heard, gather more input, and focus the plan on some key elements. The Catholic Women's League of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Bedford is holding a fundraiser - an 'All You Can Eat Pasta Supper' on Saturday March 26th at the Church Hall on Westport Road. There will be 2 sittings - 5:00 to 6:00, and 6:00 to 7:00. To reserve your time, call Deb Fischer at 613 374-1071. First come, first served. $10.00 per adult. $5.00 for children ages 6 to 12.
