It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! ~Mark Twain

Yes, Verona wants it so. Parents are digging into closets searching for soccer shoes and baseball gloves. Winter coats and boots are being packed away. Gardeners are poring through seed catalogs as flocks of geese fly overhead. At long last, spring is here!

The Verona Community Association held their Annual General Meeting on March 15. The VCA gave heart-felt thank-you's to all the hundreds of volunteers who devote their time and efforts to bring success to all the events and projects that the VCA sponsors. The Verona Cattail Festival, Music in the Park and Christmas for Kids are just a few of the sponsored VCA events, which successfully brought our community together last year. A special thank you was extended to Marcel Quenneville for his 12 years of unwavering dedication on the VCA board as a director and past president. This year the VCA promises Verona and area another exciting year.

It's dauber time again. Bingo! The Verona Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus are cohosting Bingo on Monday, March 28 at 7 pm. The doors and canteen open at 6 pm. Early bird game starts at 6:50 pm. Then 12 regular games and 2 share the wealth will be played. The prizes for each of the 12 regular games are meat packages. Each package includes two chicken breasts, 2 pork chops, 2 lean ground beef and one roast beef, value of $25. Verona Lions Hall.

The 2011 soccer season is quickly approaching and planning for the upcoming season is well underway. On-line registration is now available. Register by March 30 to avoid late fees. The FSA offers a confidential bursary program for families requiring financial assistance. Leave a message on the soccer hotline (613-530-4250) and an FSA volunteer will contact you.. Are you a high school/college/university student? Can you make a commitment over the summer for a part-time job as a field liner? Next meeting for the Verona Community Improvement Plan is April 7 at the Verona Lions Hall. 7 pm. Everyone welcome.

2011 Minor Softball registration will be held at Princess Anne Centre (Library), Hartington on Saturday, March 26 from 12 pm to 2 pm.
