Are you ready to vote? By now you should have received your voter information card from Elections Canada. If you haven't, contact the local Elections Canada office at 1-866-239-2838 before 6 pm, April 26. Advance voting days are April 22, 23 and 25. Let's make our voices count, vote!
A special guitar will be the highlight of a fundraising event on April 30 held to raise money for an education fund for the children of Verona resident, Greg Brown, who passed away last year. Steve Lloyd will be raffling his guitar, which has been signed by a fascinating group of country music and hockey legends. Tickets are available on the raffle for the guitar for a $5 donation to the Brown Children's Education Fund. Tickets can be purchased at Verona Hardware and Local Family Farms. The guitar will be raffled off at the end of the fundraiser and musical evening on April 30. Just a few of the many performers who will be playing at this fundraiser are Don Cochrane, Dieter Boehme, Rick, Lyne and Amber Pilon, Tony Abreu, Ray Dube, Brian Rudachek, Steve and Penny Lloyd, and more. There will be Karaoke and a silent auction. If you would like to donate to the auction, call 613-376-7688. Admission to this fundraiser is a $10 donation.
An indoor Flea Market and Craft Sale will be held at the Frontenac Community Arena on April 30 from 9 am to 3 pm. For more information or to book a space, call the arena at 613-374-2177.
SFCSC is holding its Annual Spring Flea Market with all proceeds going to support services and programs for seniors. This year there will be tables to rent both inside and outside for vendors, crafters etc. Donated items will also be most appreciated. Grace United Church, Sydenham, Saturday May 14. Trinity United Church is holding an Easter Son-Rise Concert featuring the Community Choir on Sunday, April 24 at 7 am. Donations to Canadian Food Grains Bank. Continental breakfast will be served after the concert. All are welcome.
Lakeview Gospel Church will host 2 special events on Sunday, April 24. At 10:30 am, LGA will carry a 25-foot cross down Rd 38 and place it at the entrance to Verona. At 6 pm, LGA will show the film "Passion of the Christ".
Bingo! The Verona Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus are cohosting Bingo on Monday, April 25 at 7 pm. The doors and canteen open at 6 pm. Early bird game starts at 6:50 pm. Then 12 regular games and 2 share the wealth will be played. Verona Lions Hall.
The Natural Environment committee is selling trees. Sale Day is Saturday, May 7 from 9 am to 1 pm. All trees are 1-3 year old bare-root saplings 18" - 24" (except Cedar which is about 1/2 that size) Trees are native species grown in Ontario. Trees are $2.00 each and orders of 10+ trees can be pre-ordered by contacting Deb Wright at delstowe@yahoo.com or calling (613) 374-2742.
