The Fall Season is here. I am looking forward to sunny days, colourful foliage and exciting village events as Verona turns its attention to turkeys, apples and pumpkins.

Turkey Bingo is back! The Verona Lions and the Knights of Columbus (St Patrick Council) will host a Turkey Bingo evening on Monday September 26, Doors and canteen open at 6 pm. Early Bird Bingo starts at 6:50 pm. 12 regular games and 2 share the wealth. Verona Lions Club, Verona Sand Road. Free parking.

Visit the Frontenac Farmers Market this Saturday and buy your supply of the fall vegetables - pumpkins, corn, apples and tomatoes. Enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee, a Verona Lions breakfast and chat with old friends and new ones. Verona Lions Club. Saturdays, 9 am to 1 pm.

Stuff the Cruiser! The Ontario Provincial Police are holding a Food Drive to support the Southern Frontenac Community Services Food Bank. The OPP will park a cruiser at Reid's Foodland in Verona on Friday, September 23 from 2 pm to 6 pm. Bring your non-perishable food items and help stuff the cruiser full.

To help raise funds, Christmas for Kids is holding a bottle drive on Saturday, September 24. They will be located at the Verona Foodland from 11 am to 4 pm. You can drop off your empties with them (wine, beer, or cooler empties) and be assured that the funds are going to a very worthwhile cause.

Hurry and get those apple pie orders in. Trinity United Church Pie-makers are having a Pie Sale. Order your pies by Friday, September 26 as there is a limited supply. They are selling for $9.00 per pie and must be pre-paid. These homemade pies make great hostess gifts or presents for Thanksgiving. To order call Marilyn at 374-2694.

Indoor Soccer will be played at Prince Charles Public School starting Monday, September 26 and runs until November 28. For kids aged 6 to 8, the soccer camp will run from 6 to 7 pm . For ages 9 to 12, the soccer camp will run from 7:00 to 8:00. The cost of the soccer camp is $25 per child. Registration will take place at 6 pm, September 26. Call Charity 613-279-2244 for more information or to reserve a spot.

Grandmothers by the Lake will host an African Dinner at Trinity United Church on Saturday, September 24. Tickets are $25 per person, and are available at Tiffany Gift Shoppe, Harrowsmith or from Marni Pedersen 374-9929.

Kids Club starts Tuesday, October 4 and runs until November 22 at the Free Methodist Church, Verona. A light supper is served at 6 pm and an exciting evening of activities is held from 6:30 to 7:45 pm. The children will be kept busy with music, stories, crafts and games.
