The Frontenac Old Time Music Championship will be held at the Bedford Hall, 1381 Westport Road on July 24th and 25th. Enter early for the "Singing, Fiddle, Guitar, Banjo & Mandolin Competition" which is open to all ages. There will be prize money and ribbons and a chance to appear in the "Country Music News Magazine". Participate in the "Fiddle and Guitar All Day Workshops". Register early - limited space. The Verona Cattail Festival is only three weeks away. The festival has truly become an "all over Verona" event. The majority of the events will be held at the new location, the Lions Club Center on Verona Sand Road. However the old favourites such as the Classic Car Show, the Red Green Duct Tape Boat Races, and the Soapbox Derby will still be held in their traditional locations. The popular Free Methodist Church Pancake Breakfast and the Trinity United Church Fish Fry will be held in the same locations as previous years. How to get to all these events? Free shuttle service! Jennifer and John Watson from Watson Bus Lines will be providing the shuttle service that will connect these different events throughout Verona. The shuttle service will run every half-hour on Saturday and Sunday.

Many new volunteers have stepped up to the plate and offered their services to the Festival. However the festival needs more volunteers. Even if you only have a few hours of volunteer time to offer, you are most welcome. There are spots for adult and student volunteers. Come out, volunteer and have a lot of fun at the festival. For further information on volunteering, contact Wayne Conway. 613-374-3807.

Volunteers are also welcome to attend the Verona Cattail Festival Meeting on Tuesday July 20 at the Verona Lion's Club Hall, Verona Sand Road. 7 pm to 9 pm. You don't want to miss this meeting. The final touches are being added to make this festival the best ever!

The Festival has an amazing Cattail "Vendors Village" Marketplace lined up. Vendors will be selling everything from log furniture, kiln fused glass pendants, hand painted gourds, tie dyed clothing to local market produce, sauces n stuff, gourmet jams and First Day Covers. So much to see, you never know what you may find, but you can be assured it will be fun looking. There are still a few spots left for vendors. However they are going fast. To book a spot and get the early bird rate, contact Carol Anne Fazackerly by July 17th. 613-374-1721, e-mail carolanne.faz@gmail.com
